Shirley Parker
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Shirley Parker on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
Comrade Shirley Parker was the President of the B.C. Provincial Command Ladies Auxiliary.
She will be dearly missed, not only by her immediate family, but many friends, colleagues and ANAVETS Members from across British Columbia and Canada.
It is also with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Shirley Young on August 29, 2020. Details will follow at a later date.
Shirley Gibbons
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Shirley Gibbons on Friday, July 17, 2020 peacefully at Kamloops Hospice.
Comrade Gibbons joined the ANAF Unit 284 Ladies Auxiliary September 2000. Shirley was a very hard worker. She organized many functions at the Club 284 catering Remembrance Days, as well as prepping foods for events the Ladies Auxiliary put on. She also worked very hard helping with unit functions.
Comrade Gibbons served as President of Ladies Auxiliary for many years and also served as 1st Vice President of Ladies Auxiliary Provincial Command until she retired and moved to Ashcroft where it is believed she became active in the Legion Auxiliary.
She will be dearly missed by immediate family, friends and comrades all.
Survived by twin sister Sharon.
Robert Wayne Horkoff
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Robert Wayne Horkoff on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Comrade Robert Horkoff was the 1st Vice President of Dominion Command of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, and a Director of the ANAVETS Senior Citizens’ Housing Society. Comrade Horkoff was the Command Chair/Liaison for Unit 284 Management Committee. Comrade Horkoff joined Penticton Unit 97 in 1999. In 2002 he was elected to the Unit 97 Executive, serving as Unit President in 2003, 2005 and 2006. In 2007 Robert was elected to the B.C. Provincial Command Board and in 2008 elected 7th Vice President of Dominion Command. Comrade Horkoff was awarded the American Legion Friendship Award in 2008, Life Membership in 2014 and Order for Service in 2017. Comrade Robert Horkoff was slated to be inducted as the Dominion President of ANAVETS on September 1, 2020. He will be dearly missed, not only by his immediate family, but many friends, colleagues and ANAVETS Members from across British Columbia and Canada.
